I wouldn’t be selling this set if I didn’t already have one in my collection. This sought after model CR-1 is becoming increasingly harder to find because they are all in the hands of collectors. The dual tuning provides excellent sensitivity while maintaining the ability to separate stronger local stations. When connected to a suitable antenna, ground and phones, this set pulls in distant stations, especially in the evening. This set is as clean inside as it is outside. The panel has a couple minor scratches, seen clearly in the photos. Size is approx 6” x 3” x 3” including Knobs There are no cracks chips, or scratches in the gloss Bakelite case. Examples are the Tuggle and the Lionodyne circuits. The modern Crystal Radios built by competitive DX gurus use the same dual tuning technique. Modern day copycats have tried to match its performance by X-Raying the tuning coil to determine the size and placement of the ferrite slug inside the coil. The key to its performance is its dual tuning and the ferrite core coupling between the antenna tuner and the detector tuner.

The CR-1 is arguably the best performing commercially sold Crystal Radio sets of all time. Very Hard To Find These Days Here is a mid 1950’s Heathkit Model CR-1 Crystal Radio Set. Another item you can’t do without is coming soon. I list items for sale on eBay several times a week. I am constantly digging around at estate sales, attics, auctions, flea markets, and swap meets.
